(Similar to Ether in other systems) Organs- Liver and The Gallbladder (Lv & Gb) Sense Organ- The Eye’s (Sight) Tissue- The Tendons and Ligaments Emotions: In Balance- Self-respect and Decisiveness In Excess- Anger and Irritability In Deficiency- Guilt and Depression Color (To Strengthen & Balance)- Vivid Green Sound (To Sedate)- Shhhhhh Exercises: Standing Postures: Embracing the Tree and Flying Daggers Diagonally Flows: Tree swaying, embracing nature to Repulse the Monkey (Adams twisting to the side and repulsing monkey through tendons), Tree growing (Adams Qigong with the branches), and turning the great green wheel of the heart. Embracing nature to repulse the Monkey: Physically- shift the weight to one side twist and open to the horizons, extend through the tendons and ligaments, and relax back to the center letting everything soften. Repeat on other side. This exercise stretches and opens the tendons/ligaments and massages the liver releasing the gallbladder as you twist. Gathering up and dissolving tightness in the tendons and ligaments throughout the body Energetically- This channel opens the liver and gallbladder channels. As you twist to the side you are stretching open all the places wood Chi can stagnate in the head, neck, sides of the body, shoulders, and pelvis. From the twist we gather the stagnate Chi then when we unwind back to the center the channels clear and open. Spiritually- this movement clears anger, and Irritability out of the body and mind allowing space for growth. When the wood element is weak there is a sense of Guilt and depression. However when the element is balanced there is self respect and Decisiveness. The wood element is about Birth and new beginnings. Water
Organs- Kidney’s and The Urinary Bladder (Ki & UB) Sense Organ- The Ears (Hearing) Tissue- The Bones, The Marrow, The Brain, and The Hair on the Head Emotions: In Balance- Courage with Caution In Excess- Fear and Panic In Deficiency- Foolhardiness (Recklessness) Color (To Balance)- Shimmery Blue Sound (To Purge excess)- Choooo Exercises: Standing Postures: Spiraling Water Warrior, The Turtle, Holding a bowl of warm water under the kidney’s (Low back) Flows: Fountain, kidney circling (making a circle with one hand scooping water and spiraling), gathering water pouring down bladder channel, The turtle, and turtle breathing, pulling water diagonally through the body, bouncing like water with fluidity. The Fountain: Physically- this Movement opens the spine and the joints, pumps fresh synovial joint fluid throughout the system. The Fluid grace of this flow builds a relaxed effortless energy in the body, that is like water as it ripples through the system dissolving any tightness or stagnation. Energetically- As the back of the hands come together and we begin to roll up from the tip of the tail bone we draw Blue watery energy into the Kidney meridian. Tracing the pathway of energy from Kidney 1 (bubbling springs) at the sole of the foot, up either side of the midline to the clavicle then up to the root of the tongue. Spiritually- The water element s about fluidity, the moistness of our mind and ways of being. It’s our ability to merge with life and get into the flow. It’s about depths of our unconsciousness and the wisdom of life. It’s also our ability to Age with grace and health. It’s our personal expression of sexuality and our ability to be vulnerable in the world. Metal
(Similar to Air in other systems) Organs- Lungs and The Large Intestine (Lu & LI) Sense Organ- The Nose and Sinus (Smell) Tissue- The Skin Emotions: In Balance- Release of Grief, Inspiration In Excess- Depression and Self-pity In Deficiency- Inability to grieve Color (To Balance)- Pearly white Sound (To Purge Excess)- Ssssss Exercises: Standing Posture: Single Whip (Strengths and opens the Lung and Large Intestines) Wu Chi holding a ball at lower abdomen (open thumb and first finger) Flows: Buddha holds up earth, opening the lungs Horizontally, opening the three parts of the lungs, Axe descending, the Radiance of starlight, Lung/LI opening the channels flow (pointing with thumb index and middle finger, and the beak in the other hand). Buddha holds up earth: -Physically- This movement opens the diaphragms and intercostals of the lungs and stretches the large intestine, both the Metal elements of the body. This allows for a deeper fluid more relaxed breath. Expands the vital capacity -Energetically- This movement open the lung and large intestine channel on the arms. As the arms come up the lung channel fills to the top of the breath, and then on the exhale the Chi moves into the Large intestine channel. Visualize the lungs glowing with pearly white energy, dissolving any cloudy dark energy. -Spiritually- This flow allows for a letting go of the old, and opening space for inspiration. The Lungs hold grief and sadness, when we practice this flow with the color in mind those energies transform.
